My start with raw food was giving up meat! I saw a Brazilian documentary about meat processing and I realized how our lovely steak is not so lovely at all and  this made me stop eating meat for good. Then I got more and more involved in Raw food and community projects, which made the beginning of eating Raw food easier for me, giving me a lot of support, ideas and friends who helped me a lot as we were all trying to be Raw together.  Then, when I arrived in England I started to understand how hard it can be to be Raw... all the temptations cheese, sweets, chocolates, cooked food... so even now, I still have to look out what and where I eat and, of course, I still have good memories of cooked meals!

The Raw food project, Biochip,  that I mentioned was the start of everything. They taught me everthing about the world of Raw from how to sprout and how to grow your own wheat grass to how to minimize waste and make composts with the organic leftovers.  They taught important details also like how you can change the flavor of a carrot just by cutting it in different shapes and how to make a great raw pizza too.  In short, all we need to survive in this society!

Backed by one of the most important universities of Brazil, PUC-Rio, the project offered an environment of support where you could learn how to make tasty food with the right equipment.  More importantly you learnt with others who share the same passion.   Gradually we learnt together to be Raw and every meeting we shared our experiences of what we had made and enjoyed (or not enjoyed) and how this experiment or experience was reflecting itself or changing every aspect of our lives (family, social, physical, psychological and spiritual). 

Perhaps the most important thing I took away from this experience was the knowledge that food is just one of the many ways to get information and to connect with the earth.  Once when you get connected you start to be much more interested in the earth, the environment, nature... and by ´cleaning your own window´ you start to open your mind and eyes to see more outside and to give more too.  We can give more to the planet and even enjoying more the simple miracles of daily life... exploring nature rather than staying home and watching TV. 

Our body multiplies cells all the time, but if our cells have addictive needs, habits, or any kind of sickness, those cells too will be copied creating a vicious cycle of unhealthy cells.  Eating live Raw food (food in its natural state) we can restore our Mother cells, and from this if we keep eating raw food our body gradually heals itself. So you can become older, but more full of life every day.

All live materials around us, for example, clay, sand, sea shells, water, and food also (when it has not been cooked) is full of live information, this information is about how to connect with mother earth and everything else in relation to the earth, so when we eat Raw we get this opportunity to reconnect with the planet. That is why the project ´Biochip´ is called like this, it´s a chip of life.
